On May 17, 2009, a 'Platform Bescherming Burgerrechten' ('Platform Protection of Civil Rights') was set up.

The Platform was initiated by the 'Humanistisch Verbond' ('Humanist League'), has an open structure and offers groups of active citizens an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and if wanted develop common initiatives in the field of privacy-related issues.

The Platform maintains a website that aims to stimulate citizens to take an active part in the afore mentioned issues and inform them about current developments by offering links to (the websites of) groups that are involved in the Platform.
A number of legal experts, lawyers and other experts from a number of universities and the field of politics assist the Platform.

The Platform aims at setting up an annual prvicy book and establishing an independent fund to initiate legal test cases that will enable citizens to defend their rights against (further) detoriation of their constitutional rights and exposure to unacceptable risks of storage of (biometrical) data in numerous data files.
